Introduction

As part of the first-semester coursework, I undertook the project of creating a documentary film titled "Life in Shores," focusing on the critical issue of coastal erosion in Kerala. The documentary aimed to highlight the impact of coastal erosion on local communities, the environment, and the economy, while also exploring possible solutions and preventive measures.

Objective

The primary objective of this documentary was to raise awareness about coastal erosion in Kerala, its causes, effects, and the urgent need for sustainable solutions. By showcasing real-life stories and expert insights, the film sought to educate and engage the audience on this pressing environmental issue.

Content Overview 

 The small documentary film gave a cinematic exploration of costal areas. It also examines the coastal area where development project have cause the harm. Environmentalists sharing their experience and thoughts. Footage also documents that changes in the affected regions and coastal erosions. It is also discuss the ecological consequence of costal decline including Habitat discussion pollution etc.

Documentary 

Conclusion

  Creating the documentary "Life in Shores" was a valuable learning experience that allowed me to explore an important environmental issue in depth. It not only enhanced my research and filmmaking skills but also deepened my understanding of the challenges faced by coastal communities in Kerala. The project underscored the importance of addressing environmental issues through education, awareness, and collective action.

Kerala Piravi Celebration : Sapiens Club

Kerala Piravi Celebration 

Event: Kerala Piravi Celebration  
Organized by: Sapiens (Social Science Club)

Venue: Emmanuel College of B.Ed Training, Vazhichal 

Introduction

The Sapiens club of Emmanuel College of B.Ed Training, Vazhichal, organized a grand celebration on November 1, 2023, to mark Kerala Piravi, the formation day of the state of Kerala. This event aimed to honor and reflect on the rich cultural heritage and history of Kerala.

Program Overview

The celebration commenced with an inauguration ceremony, where the principal delivered a heartfelt speech highlighting the significance of Kerala Piravi. The event featured various activities designed to engage and educate the participants about the state's cultural and historical aspects.

Activities

1. Inaugural Speech: 

The principal, Dr C Narayana Pillai emphasized the importance of Kerala's formation and its journey since November 1, 1956. A brief history of Kerala was shared, touching upon its unique cultural identity and contributions to Indian society.

2. Cultural Performances: 

Students presented traditional Kerala dances in option wise. Students presented cultural programs, including traditional Kerala dances like Tribal Dance, Thiruvathira and a musical ensemble featuring folk songs, celebrating Kerala's rich and diverse cultural heritage.

3. Video Presentation:
Video about Kerala Piravi, created by me was showcased. The video beautifully encapsulated the essence of Kerala’s culture, traditions, and historical significance. The video was well-received and appreciated for its content and creativity.

4. Spot choreography and Photography Competition:

 Spot choreography competition and mobile photography competition were conducted in order to celebrate Kerala Piravi. Students of other options were participate in this competition 

5. Educational presentation:

 The history of Kerala was presented by one of our student, which deficit the historical and cultural life of Kerala. Informative presentations were made by students, detailing Kerala’s geographical features, historical milestones, and socio-economic development. Special emphasis was placed on the state’s achievements in education, health, and social welfare.

Video Presentation

As part of the Kerala Piravi celebration, I created a video that was showcased during the event. The video provided a comprehensive overview of Kerala's rich culture, traditions, and historical significance. It featured a blend of visuals, music, and narration, capturing the essence of Kerala Piravi in a captivating manner. The content was well-researched and thoughtfully presented, highlighting key milestones in Kerala's history and the unique cultural practices that define the state. The video was met with high praise from both students and faculty for its creativity and informative nature, significantly enhancing the overall celebration and adding a modern, engaging element to the traditional festivities.

Conclusion

The Kerala Piravi Celebration at Emmanuel College of B.Ed Training was a resounding success. It provided a platform for students to learn, share, and celebrate the rich cultural legacy of Kerala. The event fostered a sense of pride and unity among the participants, reinforcing the importance of preserving and promoting the state's heritage. The video presentation added a modern touch to the celebration, making it more engaging and informative.

The Sapiens club's efforts in organizing such a meaningful and enriching event were commendable, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.
